Today, Stephen Decatur Middle conducted bus evacuation drills. Bus evacuation drills are conducted to ensure the safety of students and staff in the event of an emergency while on the bus. There was no emergency, this was just a drill.

Stephen Decatur Middle School was briefly in a SECURE safety status at the request of local law enforcement officials, which has now been lifted. All students and staff are safe, and operations were not disrupted during this time. We appreciate your understanding as we keep our students’ and staff’s safety our top priority.


What's happening around SDMS? Mrs. Patton's 8th grade social studies students are doing a play on The Lost Colony of Roanoke and they are painting scenes for their play (forest, castle, and ship). Meanwhile, Mrs. Cook's and Mrs. Metheny's 7th grade social studies students are creating and posting their service pledge goals in memoriam of 9/11.

Attention Parents of Students that ride bus 36! Due to a mechanical issue bus 36 will not be picking up students. Bus 57 has been re-routed to pick up bus 36 students. Should a student arrive late to school due to this issue, he or she will not be marked late.
